2026년 8월 D-2 비자 소지 졸업/수료 예정자 체류 관련 안내

안녕하세요, 외국인유학생지원팀입니다.

D-2 비자를 가지고 있는 2026년 8월 수료/졸업 예정 학생분들의 체류와 관련하여 안내드립니다.

법무부의 외국인유학생 관리 지침에 따라 학교는 외국인유학생의 졸업, 수료 등의 변동사항을 출입국·외국인청에 신고해야 합니다.

1. 졸업

  졸업으로 인한 변동신고 후에는 외국인등록증(D-2 비자) 상의 체류기간이 더 남아 있더라도 학생분들은 졸업일로부터 30일 이내에 출국해야 합니다.

우리 대학의 학위수여일은 2026.8.25.(화)이며, 졸업생 중 한국에 체류 중인 학생은 2026.9.22.(화)까지 출국해야 합니다.

또한 현재 해외에 체류 중인 학생은 소지하고 있는 D-2 외국인등록증으로 2026.9.7.(월) 이후에 입국할 수 없습니다.

2. 수료

** 2026.8.25. 이전에 수료생으로 변경되어 현재 D-2 자격으로 한국 체류 중인 학생도 아래 내용 동일하게 적용됩니다.

수료생 중 한국에 체류하지 않을 학생들에 대해서는 출입국에 변동신고를 진행해야 합니다.

아래의 사유로 인하여 수료 이후에도 한국 체류가 필요한 학생들은 학위과정 총 체류기간 상한 내에서 체류기간 연장을 받을 수 있습니다.

한국에 체류할 수료생들은 2026.8.25.(화)까지 챌린지스퀘어에서 민원처리 ‘승인’을 받아주시고 2026.9.7.(월)까지 출입국에서 체류기간 연장을 완료 해주시기 바랍니다.

위 기한 내 승인 및 연장완료를 받지 않으실 경우 한국 체류의사가 없는 것으로 간주하고 출입국에 변동신고를 진행할 예정입니다.

이 경우 해외에 체류 중인 학생은 소지하고 있는 D-2 외국인등록증으로 2026.9.7.(월) 이후 입국할 수 없으며, 한국에 체류 중인 학생은 2026.9.22.(화)까지 출국해야 합니다.

1) 대상자

  - 학사과정: 학점미달, 졸업시험(TOPIK 미 통과자 포함) 또는 논문 미 통과 등의 사유로 예정된 학사일정을 초과하여 수학하고자 하는 자

  - 석·박사과정: 석·박사과정(석·박통합과정) 수료자로 논문 작성·준비 중인 자

    ※ 석·박사과정은 졸업을 위한 한국어능력 기준 미충족 사유로 체류기간 연장 불가

  ③ 학과 사무실 통하여 학과장님 또는 지도교수님 서명 받기

     → 민원종류: 학사과정-(학부)초과학기등록에 대한 확인 / 석박사과정-(대학원)논문지도일정에 대한 지도교수 확인

  ⑥ 챌린지스퀘어에서 서명된 지도교수확인서 다운로드 후 다른 필요 서류들과 함께 출입국 제출 및 체류기간연장 신청

출입국 지침상 학교는 출입국사무소에 학적변동일로부터 15일 이내에 학생들의 학적변동사항을 신고해야 하므로 더 늦게 변동신고 가능한지에 대한 문의는 자제해주시기 바랍니다.

졸업/수료 예정생 중 취업 등을 위해 다른 비자로 바꾼 후 한국에서 계속 체류할 예정이라면, 1345(외국인종합 안내센터)에 문의하여 본인이 변경할 수 있는 비자를 확인하고 변경하시기 바랍니다.

학교는 D-2 비자 이외의 다른 비자 종류에 대해서는 상담해드리기 어려우니 양해 부탁드립니다.

Notice on Stay Status for August 2026 Graduates/Course Completers Holding a D-2 Visa

Hello, This is the Office of International Student Services.

We would like to provide important information regarding the stay status of students who are expected to graduate or complete their degree courses in August 2026 and currently hold a D-2 (Student) visa.

In accordance with the Immigration Office’s Guidelines, the University is required to report any changes in student’s academic status—such as graduation or completion of a degree course—to the Immigration Office.

1. Graduation (졸업)

After the University reports the change of academic status due to graduation, students must depart Korea within 30 days from the graduation date, even if the period of stay stated on the Registration Card (D-2 visa) has not yet expired.

The official graduation date of SKKU is August 25, 2026 (Tues).

Graduating students who are currently staying in Korea must depart Korea by September 22, 2026 (Tues).

Students who are staying abroad will not be permitted to re-enter Korea using their existing D-2 visa after September 7, 2026 (Mon).

2. Course Completion (수료)

** The following information also applies to students who were changed to “Course Completers” status before August 25, 2026 and are currently staying in Korea with the D-2 visa.

For course completers who will not stay in Korea, the University must report the change of status to the Immigration Office.

Students who need to remain in Korea after course completion for the reasons listed below may apply for an extension of stay, provided that it is within the maximum allowable stay period for their degree  course.

Course completers who intend to stay in Korea must:

Obtain “Approved” status for the relevant application on Challenge Square by August 25, 2026 (Tues) and

Complete the extension of stay at the Immigration Office by September 7, 2026 (Mon).

If approval and extension are not completed by the above deadlines, we will consider that the student has no intention to remain in Korea and will proceed with reporting the academic status change to Immigration Office.

In such cases:

Students staying abroad will not be allowed to enter Korea using their D-2 visa after September 7, 2026 (Mon).

Students staying in Korea must depart Korea by September 22, 2026 (Tues).

1) Eligible Applicants

  -  Undergraduate students:

Students who wish to continue their studies beyond the standard academic period due to reasons such as insufficient credits, failure to pass graduation examinations (including TOPIK), or failure to pass a thesis requirement.

  - Master’s / Doctoral students (including combined degree):

Course completers who are preparing or writing their thesis.

    ※ For Master’s and Doctoral degrees, an extension of stay is not permitted if the reason is failure to meet the Korean language proficiency requirement for graduation.

  ② The student should fill out all required sections(Student&Scehdule Section) of the form 

  ③ Obtain a signature from the department chair or academic advisor through the major department office

  ④ Submit an Online Application via Challenge Square

    → Application type: (Undergraduate) Confirmation for Enrollment of Additional Semester (Master’s/Doctoral) Confirmation for Faculty Advisor on a Student’s Thesis

  ⑤ Confirmation by the international student advisor

  ⑥ Download the signed Confirmation Form from Challenge Square and submit it to the Immigration Office along with other required documents to apply for an extension of stay

  ➆ Final confirmation of completion of the stay extension

According to Immigration guidelines, the University is required to report students’ academic status changes to the Immigration Office within 15 days from the date of the academic status change.

Therefore, please refrain from making inquiries regarding the possibility of submitting the status change report at a later date.

If you plan to remain in Korea by changing to a different visa status (e.g., for employment) after graduation or completion, please contact the Immigration Contact Center (☎ 1345) to confirm your eligibility and procedures for visa change.

The University is unable to provide consultation on visa types other than the D-2 visa, and we appreciate your understanding.
